Product Review & Give Away ~ Furls!

Last week, I received a package from Furls Crochet! Carefully unpacking the box, because I knew what was inside… This stunning Furls Wooden Yarn Bowl!
Furls Crochet Yarn Bowl Product Review-The Hooked Haberdasher
Today, it is my extreme pleasure to blog a Product Review of my new gorgeous Wooden Yarn Bowl from Furls Crochet!

Since the day I opened the box and unwrapped my Furls wooden yarn bowl, I have admired its natural beauty, silky smoothness and quality of craftsmanship lovingly displayed in my crochet space, cradling my yarn. It is truly an amazing work of art! Talk about my delight in NOT having to chase my yarn ball around the table, dropping it to the floor (ugh). With the gentle soft curves of the design and the way the yarn bowl feeds the yarn, there are absolutely no snags, knotting or tangles (especially helpful when working with and holding more than one fiber)!
Furls Crochet Yarn Bowl Product Review
Now let’s talk about the quality of craftsmanship. The yarn bowl is hand carved by a woodworking artist from one of the most sturdy and durable wood available – Acacia. Carving the yarn bowl from the Acacia wood results in not only a visually appealing piece of art, but also in durability. I just happen to know about the durability factor firsthand. How do I know about this firsthand you ask… well, unfortunately (or fortunately, as the case may be) my BIG dog’s tail wagged my beautiful new Furls wooden yarn bowl right off my work table, smack facedown onto the tile floor – GASP… I hadn’t even photographed it in all its glory for this post yet, and was afraid to even touch it, fearing the worst (holding my breath)… to my disbelief and relief (able to breathe again), not a scratch, dent or crack had occurred from the “wag” mishap. Whew… however, let me just say without the “wag”, I would have never experienced for myself, nor would I be able to to share with you in this review, the firsthand knowledge of the durability of this product!

I recently acquired one of Furls pendants from their Jewelry line. I do so love functional fashion, and it was mentioned on the Furls Crochet website that the Hook pendant could be used as a 3mm functioning crochet hook. For the purpose of this review, I chose to try it out. I placed 5 spools of #10 cotton thread in my new wooden yarn bowl and using three strands, started to crochet – WOW… both products worked to my complete satisfaction. The wooden yarn bowl kept the five spools (three working) from “running” away, fed the three strands with perfect ease and without ANY tangling or knotting. The Hook pendant worked perfectly, as evidenced in this photo.

Seriously, friends! I could not be happier with my new Furls Fiberarts Wooden Yarn Bowl and would highly recommend this product to all of my crochet friends and readers – yes, that’s you! 🙂 I must also give give a shout out to Furls Crochet Hook Pendant. The quality of this piece of functional jewelry is the best – just like everything Furls! Check out the entire product line from Furls Crochet on their website and find them socially on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube and Tumblr. About thehookedhaberdasher

I was blessed with two dear Grandmothers who were wonderfully gifted and loved all the arts of handcrafting. At their knee, a wee little blonde girl learned the fine art of crochet under their wise and talented tutelage. Now that little girl has grown up and enjoys a lifestyle that affords me the time to put hooks, yummy yarns and fibers back into my hands, returning to the joy and fun of the art of handcrafted crochet. I am awed by the talent and creative patterns of modern new designers, but still enjoy the beauty of vintage patterns as well. My mind and hands are never idle, designing and handcrafting stylishly beautiful, practical, cozy, comfy, sweet and cute wearables and loveables for old and young alike. As a very detail oriented artist, I design and crochet with love, embracing the virtues bequested to me by those two beautiful Grandmothers.

  3. I would absolutely LOVE to have one of these beautiful yarn bowls! The whole process of carefully choosing the special yarns for projects and the joy of simply admiring them safely tucked into such a lovely work of art, itself, would just add so much to an already wonderful hand craft experience! I think the bowl and the yarns and hooks are a work of art to display all on their own. Just makes me smile!!!

I would use this yarn bowl to make projects requiring more than one strand of yarn. Using this yarn bowl is a lot better than having balls of yarn strategically placed around you as to not to tangle the yarn when unraveling and using the yarn. It sure will keep the yarn in the right place. I will crochet some new projects with it. I will also put it on display…it’s so pretty!

  14. These bowls are beautiful !!!! These would be great when using yarn that has been wound into balls. That way you wouldn’t have to chase them around when they roll of the sofa. LOL I would not want to put the bowl away when I’m done with my projects. I it to beautiful to hide in the closet. It would have a permanent spot on my coffee table. I would love to win this yarn bowl!!!

I would actually use the balls of leftover yarn if I had one of the Furls Bowls. Right now leftover balls just go into a large bin and wait for a time when someone wants to learn to crochet. I don’t use the leftover balls because I really don’t like chasing them around!

  21. I would proudly place it on the coffee table for easy access to my yarn. It will look so much better than the mixing bowl that I now use!
