OttLite Giveaway At The Hooked Haberdasher!

Some 10+ years ago (now that’s the way-back machine!), I attended an HIA (now called CHA – the Craft & Hobby Association) convention in Dallas, Texas – that was the day I first laid eyes on the OttLite! I was SOLD the moment I saw the amazing difference from incandescent light compared to the OttLite’s natural daylight bulb – wowzers – what a difference! When I returned home, I promptly purchased their 13W Folding Task Lamp then a year later I purchased a second one to illuminate my entire scrapbooking working surface from both sides! I still have and use those two lamps – they have traveled all over the country to scrapbooking getaways and conventions with me. I also use them today to help with my crochet photography lighting – they work perfectly for photography!
OttLite Giveaway At The Hooked Haberdasher

Last week I was so excited to receive the OttLite 18W Sewer’s Floor Lamp to use and review! Let’s just say it was a good mail day! I promptly replaced my vintage floor lamp which uses incandescent light bulbs with my new OttLite and settled in to work on my crochet project. The difference truly SHOCKED me! I thought I had sufficient lighting to crochet by – but I was MISTAKEN – literally night and day difference! The OttLite emits a natural daylight light which not only shows true colors, but also reduces shadows – thus making it much easier to find my stitches and avoid mistakes in my crochet projects. Oh, and don’t get me started on just how easy it is to crochet with dark colors using the OttLite – that would be another blog post in and of itself! The flexible neck and multi-position shade helps me easily direct powerful illumination exactly where I need it –  I can now hover the light right over my work to the exact position I choose! And can I just exclaim about the base of this floor lamp – it is perfectly sized and weighted to prevent toppling – excellent design! Just look at the lighting difference in these comparison photos!

About thehookedhaberdasher

I was blessed with two dear Grandmothers who were wonderfully gifted and loved all the arts of handcrafting. At their knee, a wee little blonde girl learned the fine art of crochet under their wise and talented tutelage. Now that little girl has grown up and enjoys a lifestyle that affords me the time to put hooks, yummy yarns and fibers back into my hands, returning to the joy and fun of the art of handcrafted crochet. I am awed by the talent and creative patterns of modern new designers, but still enjoy the beauty of vintage patterns as well. My mind and hands are never idle, designing and handcrafting stylishly beautiful, practical, cozy, comfy, sweet and cute wearables and loveables for old and young alike. As a very detail oriented artist, I design and crochet with love, embracing the virtues bequested to me by those two beautiful Grandmothers.

If I had twitter, I would share it there too 🙂 We have “energy saving” lights (I think they save energy because they’re so dim!) so I have to keep moving our lamp from my reading chair corner to my craft section. That’s a dream come true!
